Lifegroup Stories

"Good morning, we are here to celebrate the baptism of Jamie and just wanted to share briefly about her story.  About 10 months ago Jamie found herself at the end of her rope.  She was addicted to drugs. She was without a place to live, without a car, without a job; really was without hope.  She didn't have custody of her son because he had been taken by Child Protective Services because of her addiction to drugs.  There was a man in our fellowship who approached Jamie at the bus stop and said, "Did you know God wants to give you a second chance?"  He offered to pray with her, and Jamie decided she wanted to give her life to Jesus.  We met her at the mall a few days later. She was desperate for the Holy Spirit; she was desperate to change.  Through the process of Life Group, coming to church, and discipleship, He has completely changed her heart.  She's been set free from drugs for 10 months; God has filled her with the Holy Spirit.  He's given her the gift of evangelism. She declares her testimony at work, at the bus stop, in the store, with everyone she meets.  And on top of that, He has restored her son to her. This is precious Mark.  Mark will turn 3 years old this week.  God has been so faithful to Jamie."   This testimony was shared during a baptism on 2/25/07

A girl in my Lifegroup, Amanda, came to our Lifegroup meeting last Monday with the flu.  She had missed her classes that day and came to LG in a ballcap and coat, definitely under the weather.  After worship, we had a time of praying for those who were sick.  She raised her hand, expressed that she had the flu, and was willing to receive prayer.  Our Lifegroup prayed together over her and believed in faith that God had healed her.  After saying "Amen", Amanda looked up at us with a look of amazement.  "Wow, I've never felt anything like that before!", she said several times.  We asked her to elaborate.  She said, "I just saw these white waters washing over me...I've never felt anything like that before".  She felt completely better, took off her coat and enjoyed the rest of Lifegroup freed of the flu. Our Young Adults Lifegroup went to the College Dwelling Place last week. Robert Herber shared a word that God wanted to heal people from headaches. Anna turned to me and said that was her, that she has headaches all the time and that she's just gotten used to the pain. So, Justin and I prayed for her that she would be healed...and yesterday, (5 days later) she testified that she has not had ANY headaches since that day. She said she especially has them when the weather changes, which it did last week, and she couldn't believe that she still hasn't had any. She was super encouraged that God does indeed love her. God is doing so much in her life right now. I'm thrilled that He healed her as a sign of His faithfulness! Julie: Young Adults LG 2/13/07

A girl in our Lifegroup was saved about two months ago. She started coming to LG about 6 months ago, and it was really the people reaching out to her and our love for one another that changed her. Several different people in our LG loved on her from the beginning, and one of them got to pray with her one evening in her house to receive Jesus. About three weeks ago she was baptized in Dwelling Place. She has had a tough time as things from her past kept coming back to her, but she has persevered with the help of the Lord and the body.

Two weeks ago, we had a healing night at our Lifegroup and asked for anyone who had any sickness to get prayed for in the center of the room. She had pnomonia resulting in a lot of fluid in her lungs and ears. She also had had a lot of pain in her back and knees. She was about to take medicine again for the fluid in her lungs before we started praying. As we were praying ,she could feel the fluid draining out of her lungs and ears. Her back was still hurting, but then she realized her knees were not. She has been wanting to start running, but has been afraid because of her knees. She left during LG to run down and back up the street (we thought she had just left LG) and had no pain in her knees. She
hadn't been able to do that in several months!! She came back in and testified as to what the Lord had done. Then she realized had back had also ceased from hurting. Since then she has been running with no problems at all. YAY!!!  Sarah: College LG 3/6/07

About a month ago, I went to a local doctor after experiencing sometimes severe back pain for months. The doctor diagnosed me with a herniated disk and told me there was nothing that could be done except to be careful with my back and take some strong prescription pain medication (which I DONT need as an ex-drug addict!). At Lifegroup Sunday night, most of the group laid their hands on me and prayed for healing in the name of Jesus. It is now Wednesday evening, and I have not had any pain since Sunday. I used to have this pain daily for several months. Hallelujah!  Ricky: Adult LG 3/7/07

Yes, the Lord did something truly awesome last Tuesday night! At Lifegroup, we talked about praying for others and being faithful in little, and God allowed me to pray for someone that night! As I was walking back to my room, my friend was coming out of her room and asked me to help her walk to the bathroom. She was in horrible pain and struggled to walk even after she went to the doctor that day and received medication. She had injured a disk in her back years ago, and doctors thought this was the cause of her pain. I felt the Lord really wanted to heal her and show His glory through this. As we began to walk, I asked if I could pray with her and she willingly accepted. Like two seconds later, I asked if she felt any different, and she literally started to walk normally again. She couldn't believe that the pain was gone, and she was able to walk normally for the first time that day. She cried when I prayed with her. (It's amazing how just praying with others means so much.) But she also started crying when she could walk in the hall. She was also shocked that it happened immediately. I was crying too because it is sooo amazing to be a part of His goodness. It was wonderful....praise God. She has had no pain like it since. She now wants to visit Antioch with me, and I can't wait to see what God is doing in her life. What a joy to be a part of His work! I hope this was a good description of what the Lord did, and I pray what He did will encourage other believers through His healing.  Laura: College LG 1/30/07

At Lifegroup, we talked about evangelism and then went to a neighborhood by the church and knocked on people's doors asking them if there was any way we could pray for them. We waited on the Lord while in the cars driving over to the neighborhood. We received a few different pictures during prayer; people saw a woman crying, the color red, the color blue, a ball, etc.

When our Lifegroup returned from praying for people, one of the groups shared that one lady had invited them in and her whole living room was blue and both she and her husband were wearing blue (and their child, I believe, was playing with a ball). Another group reported that the family they ministered to had invited them into a red living room, and one of the parents was wearing a red shirt. The mom started crying as we were praying for them because she has breast cancer. Praise the Lord! The words of knowledge that He gave us were fulfilled! Lauren: College LG 2/14/07
