College Trip to Juarez, Mexico

These testimonies were transcribed from our service on Sunday, March 18, 2007.

"The day after we arrived we went to a Sunday morning service at a church called Jope.  The Wednesday before our trip at our college service, Dwelling Place, we had a healing service and we wanted to do the same thing at this church.  So, the leaders told me that what was going to happen was Robert Herber was going to preach and there was going to be a small group of people that shared words of knowledge about things the Lord had laid on their heart, and that He wanted to heal, and then people were going to raise their hands if they wanted to be healed and we would pray for them.  Then they told me that I was going to be in that small group of people who waited on the Lord and shared words of knowledge.

I was so excited, but I was also nervous because it was my first time to publicly share a word from the Lord.  We were waiting on the Lord in the bus, and I so clearly heard that the Lord wanted to heal the blind eyes.  I was like, ‘What?  God, that is like so drastic!' so I was really praying for confirmation.  He was so faithful.  He clearly confirmed that several times.  So when we got there, after Robert had preached we went up and I shared it and we all shared our things and there were so many people whose hands were raised.  So we all just went to pray for them.  I walked to the back because I saw a lady whose hand was raised that no one was praying for her yet.  I asked her what was wrong.  I speak a little Spanish and her son was there who spoke a little English; she was an older lady.  She told me that her right eye was totally blind.  She could see out of her left eye, but her right eye was totally dark.  I was like, ‘It is really cool that I went to her after receiving that word from God.'

So I just started praying for her and asked her how she was feeling.  She was still in desperation and so sad.  So then I prayed for her again and had some friends come over and pray with me and after a while of praying, we asked her how she was.  And she closed her left eye, like this, and she was looking and started saying, ‘Blanco!  Blanco!'  He son was telling me that she saw this white light, and that was what I was praying for when I was praying for her, ‘Let the darkness go away let her see light' and she did.  So we were getting so excited about God healing her.  Someone had some anointing oil, just anointing her eyes, some of my friends were praying for her.  We prayed for a long time and then we asked her how she felt.  She slowly opened her eyes and in a state of shock she was closing her left eye and looking up at the stage, and looking down at the table before her, and she starts mumbling, she couldn't even get the words out she was in so much shock.  Her son was telling us that she was totally healed!  Like, she could totally see.  It was such a miracle.  I was so fired up and my faith was so increased.  It was so exciting.  After the service she was just hugging me and we were rejoicing in the Lord together.

And then another guy that had come up to me said that both of his eyes were slowly going blind.  I asked him how he was after the service and he was, like, bawling, crying and smiling so big.  And he said, ‘Mucha mejor!  Mucha mejor!'  His eyes were so much better.

In our group, we were sharing testimonies afterwards, and there was about 80% of our group that was a part of praying for people to be healed that morning.  It was such a testament to how faithful God is and how miraculous he is."  --Mary L.

"The first night we were there (every night we would go out into the streets or parks and do outreaches)  we were in the marketplace.  Towards the end of the night there was this gentleman who, like a lot of people in the marketplace, either lived on the street or was there to primarily to ask for money and food.  Some of our team were trying to talk to him and share the love of Jesus.  He really didn't, honestly, want to hear much of what they were saying, but they said, "Well, can we at least pray for you?"  And he's like, "Yes, please pray for me."

We had a couple of our girls start praying over him and one of our girls had a word of knowledge about a specific demonic spirit on his life.  She's like, "Okay, Lord, this is you."  God confirmed it in her heart and then very peacefully in the name of Jesus she commanded the demonic spirit to go and all of the sudden the guy kinda' took a step back and started wobbling then in the power of the Spirit fell over and just laid peacefully on the ground for the next 5-10 minutes.  We were kneeling next to him praying and asking God to bless him and do whatever God was doing.  Our translator came over as he was ‘coming to' and able to communicate a little bit more again.  Our translator asked him what God was doing in his heart, and he said that after she prayed for him, he, all the sudden, felt like his body was being lifted to another place off the earth.  He saw this bright light and all these angels around everywhere.  He said that he saw this amazing face and he heard Jesus say to him, ‘Hold on!  Keep holing on!  I am holding on to you!  Don't let go of Me!"  Then he said he saw the words, ‘Juan 3:16'.  Our translator asked him, ‘Do you know what that means?' and he didn't really respond.  Our translator started sharing what ‘Juan 3:16' meant and the guy actually finished John 3:16 as he is still laying on the ground getting ministered to.  He had an amazing encounter with God.

At that moment we were having to leave because our bus was, literally, about to pull off the parking lot without us.  So there were some other Mexican gentlemen around so I got a Bible and a tract and ran over there and I asked, ‘Are you guys Christians?', and they all kinda' nodded.  One of them was like, ‘I love Jesus', so I was like, ‘God is doing something in this guy's life here's a Bible, here's a tract, you guys need to keep ministering to him.'  -- John H.

"I am actually sharing a testimony of a girl in my Life Group named Rachel, she's not here today.  Rachel came in to Baylor this year as a freshman and has really seen the power of God in her life.  At World Mandate, she had surgeries on her knees a couple of times, God totally and completely healed her knees, and in the healing service we had a Dwelling Place before we went to Juarez, God had completely healed her eyes, she hadn't been able to see right.  So she came in to Juarez with a ton of faith but had never seen someone healed when she prayed for them.  Tuesday morning we were in worship and she felt tingling in her leg all the way down on her left side.  She didn't think anything of it but we went to the Cathedral that night and on the drive there the pain came back.  She started praying and when we got there her and I, after the first set, we walked over to a lady and she had thrombosis in her left leg all the way down and Rachel just knew that word was for her.  So, together we prayed for her, and as we prayed the lady said she could feel a river running down through her leg, and when we were done, she was completely healed.  They were supposed to operate on her leg the next month and she walked away completely normal.

With that faith, Rachel, after the next set, prayed for a lady who had a huge lump on her back, and as she prayed, every time she prayed the lump got smaller and the third time she prayed the lump was completely gone.

After that, she walked over to a man who had a cane and had leg problems.  And after the third time she prayed for him he was completely healed and walked off without his cane.

That night she also got to pray for two people, one had anxiety and completely felt the peace of God, and another who was aching all over completely healed. So she came back with so much faith.  I talked to her last night and she was sharing the Gospel in Wal-Mart in Dallas.  Praise God!" --Becca M.

"First of all I'm going to give y'all a very, very quick version of my own testimony.  I've been struggling with drugs and alcohol for the past five years. Two months ago met a guy in my tennis class who invited me to Lifegroup, and I accepted Jesus into my heart right then.  I haven't had any drugs or alcohol since.  We were down in Juarez and met a man named Martin.  Someone ran over, grabbed me and said, ‘You gatta' talk to this guy.'  I go over and we find out that he's a drug lord in the area, and we were talking to him and I got to share my testimony with him.  He just looks at me and goes, ‘I believe you.'  So, we go ahead and go through the track with him and he right then and there got saved.  He goes, ‘Do you guys have a Bible?', we're like, ‘Yeah, we'll get you a Bible', so one of the guys who is with me goes and gets a Bible.  He comes back and gives the Bible.  Martin says, ‘Can I get a couple more Bibles?'  I was like, ‘Yeah'.  So I run over and get a couple more Bibles.  He's like, ‘Um...actually, I live with about 20 guys', and all these 20 guys, we find out, are also addicted to drugs and live with him.  So we go get 20 Bibles, bring them back and go, ‘Look, you know, it is your turn now.  You can be just like us, you're going to be a big influence for these guys.'  And he's like, ‘Yeah, I'm going to go share this with them." --Peter

"Our team gets back from Juarez and we're all pretty excited and full of faith so we decided to go do another outreach in Cameron Park.  So, we go there and there's just a huge crowd there.  One of the guys on our team named "Moochie" shares the Gospel and also shares a poem in the form of song, rap if you will.  It was awesome!  There was four people that gave their lives to the Lord that night, so we're all still excited and looking to continuing to do these kinds of things in Waco.  God is moving just as much in Waco as He is in Juarez or Dallas.--Joel
